The information below is from 2025. Stay tuned for the start of 2026 petition circulation for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. Circulation of petitions can begin January 2, 2026.
2025 is the year of Virginia elections, and we have SO MANY CANDIDATES!
Every candidate for statewide office (Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General) needs to collect 10,000 valid signatures of Virginia voters in order to qualify for the ballot. Because of invalid signatures, in reality, candidates need 2 to 3 times that amount, meaning 20,000 to 30,000 signatures!
Circulating a petition for the candidate of your choice is simple. There are three steps:
Download and print the petition. PRINT ON DOUBLE-SIDED PAPER!
Collect signatures from registered Virginia voters. This can be done at family gatherings, workplaces, neighborhoods, or anywhere you connect with fellow Virginians. Get creative with it to get as many signatures as possible! Remember, signing a petition doesn’t obligate voters to support that campaign, it only is to get the candidate on the ballot. Voters can sign the petition of multiple candidates for the same office.
Get your petitions notarized. Every single page must be notarized. Fear not - there are lots of notaries around and we will be hosting weekly Northern Virginia notary meetups in Fairfax County's Providence District where we will notarize your petition on the spot and collect it to give to the campaign.
If you get your petitions notarized somewhere other than our notary meetup, you will have to send your completed petitions in to the campaign of your candidate. The petition deadline is in March, so this website will be updated closer to the deadline with more information about where to send completed petitions.
If on mobile device, use two fingers to scroll on the map. Click on the pinpoints to see address and additional details.
Every Saturday at 12PM you can stop by Caboose Commons, 2918 Eskridge Rd, Fairfax, VA 22031, to get your petitions notarized. Our notaries can hold on to any completed, notarized petitions to hand over to the respective campaigns.
